Estimating Manager

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced estimator with expertise in major social and industrial infrastructure. You will be reporting to the head of pre-construction in our head office in Toronto. You will be a key member of our organization by working in multiple tenders and pursuits in Canada with the support of an international group that delivers large and complex infrastructure projects in more than 25 countries.
You will contribute to the team with your skills, open-mind approach, and high motivation to develop top-standard proposals to our clients to demonstrate the value we bring in delivering first class infrastructure, while fostering long-term relationships with our industry partners and key stakeholders.
Main duties and Responsibilities
· Conduct detailed analysis of project documents such as plans, drawings, technical specifications, and other relevant documentation to determine proposal requirements and prepare bid estimates for management review.
· Prepare construction schedules based on proposal requirements and subcontractor inputs, ensuring productivity, work logic and sequencing are robustly planned to comply with completion requirements.
· Prepare take-offs of labor, equipment, and materials of packages of work
· Liaise with consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors to request quotations for packages of work based on drawings, technical specifications, and other relevant documentation of the proposal.
· Understanding technical and commercial terms in suppliers and subcontractors’ quotations to discuss and review to ensure such quotations align with the proposal requirements.
· Conduct risk and opportunity analysis and lead internal reviews with key stakeholders.
· Prepare presentations with the estimation status to management and support in meetings with clients or relevant stakeholders as required.
· Identify and propose strategies, innovations or plans that could enhance the overall value of the proposal.
· Actively participate in bid closings.
· Support engaging with suppliers and subcontractors post award to finalize engagement for the project delivery.
What you bring
· A University Degree or College Diploma in Engineering or Construction Management or a combination of education and industry experience.
· +8 years of relevant experience in estimating/operational in major social and industrial infrastructure construction.
· Strong knowledge of supply chain companies that deliver related materials and services.
· In-depth understanding of construction documents and the ability to assess the level of completeness.
· Experience in P3 and collaborative contracting is an asset.
· Strong computer background including experience with MS Office, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, and estimation software.
· Understanding of technical specifications, drawings, and commercial terms relevant to manage request for quotation and bids from suppliers, consultants, and subcontractors.
