Sacyr is seeking a highly skilled and driven Senior Estimator to join our growing Preconstruction team. The Position is Remote!! This is a key position within our organization, responsible for preparing and leading complex cost estimates for large-scale heavy civil and highway infrastructure projects across North America, including Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3, and negotiated procurements.
As a Senior Estimator, you will bring deep industry experience, technical acumen, and a collaborative mindset to support strategic pursuits while mentoring junior staff and playing a vital role in Sacyr’s continued growth across the U.S. and Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze project specifications, drawings, geotechnical reports, and contract documents to determine the full scope of work and identify risk factors.
- Prepare detailed, accurate, and competitive cost estimates utilizing HCSS HeavyBid and related estimating tools.
- Lead quantitative takeoffs, unit pricing, subcontractor/vendor solicitation, and bid leveling across all major disciplines (earthwork, structures, paving, drainage, MOT, etc.).
- Maintain up-to-date pricing databases through direct vendor/supplier contact, market analysis, and historical project data.
- Collaborate with construction teams, engineers, and business development professionals to develop win strategies, value engineering options, and alternative technical concepts.
- Actively participate in pre-bid meetings, design-build workshops, and technical proposal development sessions.
- Provide training, guidance, and leadership to junior estimators and support staff to ensure quality and consistency.
- Support the Chief Estimator in overseeing bid submissions and contribute to overall estimating strategy and process improvements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction, preferably with DOT, infrastructure, or transportation projects in the U.S.
- Proficiency in HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel/Word).
- Working knowledge of scheduling tools like Primavera P6 is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret complex plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Collaborative and proactive team player with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
