The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will be involved in the quantity surveyor area be responsible for carrying out tasks assigned by the team manager, assisting other engineers with tasks follow guidance and to come up with original ideas.
The role holder is required to work closely with the construction management, engineers and surveyors to keep projects on track, and will be responsible in conducting desktop and field research, attending meetings, performing all practical and administrative duties assigned by the team manager, assisting on projects and writing up reports, offering suggestions for improvement.

Key Responsibilities include:
Observe, assist & support the engineering team with the following tasks:
- Understand project requirements and carry out tasks set by the supervisor/team manager.
- Shadow experienced colleagues, ask questions and assist wherever possible.
- Conduct research and collating data.
- Analyse data and write reports according to specifications.
- Working closely and managing the relevant sections within the
- Ensuring all quality procedures set out in the Project Quality Plan are followed by our company, and by the companies carrying out work on our behalf
- Working in a collaborative manner with all other stakeholders on the project
- Deliver presentations to staff members and other stakeholders.
- Observe existing strategies and techniques and offering suggestions for improvement.
- Observe and follow health and safety guidelines.
- Participate in meetings and workshops when required.
- Take notes and share findings with management and other relevant stakeholders.
- Work closely with staff to foster professional values and build good relationships.
- Additional duties associated with the role as determined by the management.
- Communicate and liaise with sub-contractors, and be responsible for their successful delivery in conjunction with the construction team.
- Measurement of quantities.
- Assisting with preparation of monthly financial statement of anticipated Final Account detailing status of variations (budget, submitted, agreed), in conjunction with project management.
- Additional duties associated with the role as determined by management.
Essential criteria:
- Legal right to work in the Republic of Ireland
- Willingness to complete a 5-year background screening as part of the hiring process.
- Bachelor’s degree in quantity surveying related subject or another relevant discipline.
- An ability to communicate with a range of people, including customers, clients and key stakeholders both verbally and in writing.
- Interpersonal skills with ability to negotiate to achieve the best price from suppliers.
- Logical approach to problem solving along with solid analytical skills, understanding of business processes and systems optimisation.
- Eager to learn with a keen eye to for detail especially in relation to numerical data.
- Excellent multi-tasking abilities.
- Excellent time management and organisation ability combined with good problem-solving skills.
- Highly skilled in prioritising and organising.
- Comfortable interacting with all levels of management in multiple areas.
- Proficient with MS Office software. to include Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Word.
Desirable criteria:
- Previous experience gained through student placement in engineering/ construction.
- Knowledge of and/or experience using engineering software.
- Knowledge of the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
